"Through our annual contributions, we aim to make a lasting impact in our communities by supporting our youth, and those in need. When we look back it is impressive how much we have been able to contribute over the years and how many individuals have been impact through our annual grants. We are so appreciative that Peter Grant started this foundation with his generosity allowing us to continue to impact many more in the future. Our commitment to these annual causes reflects our core values, and our mission to help build vibrant and thriving communities in Northern Ontario”

Learn More About Each Annual Commitment
1) Annual Food Bank Donation
Since 2013, The Frog's Breath Foundation has donated over $421,000 to Northern Ontario food banks. We saw the need to introduce an annual donation of $5,000 to food banks in each community every November, helping local Northern Ontario families. This yearly contribution supports:
Haileybury Food Bank
Temagami Food Bank
Englehart & Area Food Bank
Cobalt/Coleman/Latchford Area Food Bank
New Liskeard Salvation Army Food Bank
Kirkland Lake Salvation Army Food Bank
A total of $30,000 is contributed annually to help support those in need in our communities. This year given the current economic challenges, we recognized the need to increase our donation to $65,000. As a result, we donated $10,000 to each of the five local food banks and $15,000 to the Kirkland Lake food bank.
2) Annual Northern Ontario Graduation Scholarship
Since 2015, we have donated $222,500 to our local high school graduating students from New Liskeard to Kirkland Lake. The Frog's Breath Foundation gives out $22,500 in graduation scholarships each year.
We proudly introduced these two bursaries in 2015 to support local graduating high school students pursuing University or college education. uEach bursary, awarded at $2,500, helps alleviate the cost of post-secondary education. These scholarships support future leaders in our communities that align with our community principles and mission. The scholarships are disbursed each year to TDSS, ESCSM, KLDCS, EHS, and ESCLN. The Graduation Committee at each school selects a recipient for each award:
Frog’s Breath Foundation Community Citizenship Award: Awarded to a deserving student who has shown tremendous dedication to the local community and its members.
Grant Farms Stewardship Award: Priority is given to a deserving student with experience in farming. If no suitable candidate exists, the award goes to a deserving student with a passion for and commitment to land management and/or farming.
3) Annual NOSM Scholarship: Empowering Northern Ontario's Future Doctors
Since 2020, the Frog's Breath Foundation has partnered with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine to create an annual scholarship of $5,000 to be awarded to a local student attending the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) each year. To date, we have donated $25,000 in NOSM scholarships.
Each year, we eagerly extend our support to the NOSM program, providing a scholarship to one Northern Ontario resident pursuing their dream of becoming a physician. It's essential to clarify that while we provide the funding, the recipients of these scholarships are chosen through a rigorous selection process by the NOSM Selection Committee, ensuring that the most deserving candidates, based on merit and need, are given the opportunity to pursue their calling in medicine.
4) Annual Community Living Temiskaming South Walkathon
Our longest-standing annual donation goes to the Community Living Temiskaming South Walkathon, which started in 2005. Initially, we donated $500 per year for the first nine years, but recognizing the growing need, we increased it to $1,000 per year.
The Community Living Temiskaming South Walkathon is an annual fundraiser that raises money for people with intellectual disabilities in our area. For over 50 years, this event has been put on by their board and a dedicated group of volunteers who share a vision of providing opportunities and programs for loved ones in our community.
We are committed to supporting this annual fundraiser, which makes a significant impact by introducing and maintaining meaningful programs and supplies to enrich the lives of over 200 individuals in our communities.
